You need to know that the credits are the best part.
The people come back to earth, and the spaceship lands just about as the credits start, I think. People who left then missed the history of how the human kids are taught to farm the land, illustrated in art forms ranging from cave paintings through Egyptian paintings through impressionism through various types of modern art. Just fabulous.
