Today when Nate went in for speech therapy, Jonah decided to create a little excitement in the parking lot. Somehow or other, he managed to end up on the inside of a locked minivan while beloved nanny Flor was on the outside. Flor frantically instructed a passerby to call for help while she contemplated which window to break to get the little guy out, when suddenly an idea occurred to her. "Jonah!" Flor shouted through the window. "See this button?? Lift UP the button! Then you can watch Nemo!" Upon hearing his favorite word, Jonah immediately dropped what he was doing, turned to the button on the door, and lifted it. As Flor threw the door open, Jonah, very pleased with himself, presented his hand and cried, "Five! Nemo, Nemo, Nemo!" Ah, all's well that ends well.
Nate has become a lot more adventurous in the park lately. He's suddenly very interested in swinging from the monkey bars (with a little help, although not too much help), climbing up and sliding down the big pole, and standing atop the big rock:
After all, you never know who you might see up there.
In this case, we ran into Nate's old friend Stella, she of the pierced ears ("Oh, Stella, you have pretty ears!" commented Nate) and formerly of the very cute witch's costume from several Halloweens ago. It's weird to think that he has erstwhile friends he might run into at the park.
Around the house, everyone has had a little spring in his step lately. Jonah is running pell mell after Nate, screeching, "Neet! Neet! Where Neet?" The two of them like to hide together, either in their closet or behind the living room curtains, giggling and waiting to be found. Jonah has become very good at climbing up and going down the slide without any help, and Nate has decided to start jumping from the slide to the bed, which, while somewhat heart stopping for Mommy, is great for his confidence and all. It's getting a little wild, but every now and then, they manage to curl up with a space traveler and look very sweet.
